In some cultures, it is also a time for the payment of dowry. Don't just grab a woman and away you go to start living together as man and wife. Pay the stipulated dowry, but ensure that whatsoever you do does not violate your Christian principle.

What then are the consequences of a bad marriage? What happens when a couple does not succeed in their marriage? Your Christian Testimony Is Affected "For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you…" -Romans 2:24 When a Christian family fails, it gives unbelievers room to blaspheme the name of God. When your unbelieving neighbours hear you and your wife fighting and quarreling everyday, calling your children all manner of ungodly names, or your children are typical examples of what the Bible refers to as "unruly", your Christian testimony is actually what is being affected. How will you witness to them or invite them to church, when they are aware of the situation in your family? There is nothing to emulate in your family.

If during courtship you discover that two of you cannot "walk" together, that is, you are not compatible and, therefore, cannot make it together, a U-turn is permitted.  A U-turn in the sense of putting an end to the courtship. If you feel you have made a wrong choice, call the relationship off! A broken courtship is permitted, if necessary. It is better to break a courtship than to end a marriage in divorce. After all, a broken courtship is not the same as a divorce!
